This is a list of a few books that we have found especially helpful. Most of these are available in the Wild Rose Clinic and we welcome recommendations and donations to our library.
There are many great books available, but these should be on the top of your list.

By clicking through to the Seattle Midwifery School site and placing your order at Amazon.com you will help support midwifery education in the Pacific NW.

How:  Books about childbirth and child care techniques

Why:  Why Natural Childbirth is Best for you

and your Baby

Politics and Economics :  Why the childbirth business

is the way it is.

History:   The history of contemporary midwifery.  My introduction to alternatives to medicalized childbirth.  The trailblazers and gurus.  Read for inspiration!

Power:  Why the Medical Profession wants to hold

on to it.   About the coming crisis in childbirth choices.

I had a hard time picking categories, since many of the books discuss the "how and why" together, or the "politics and economics" along with the "power."  The "history of modern midwifery" pretty much covers all of the categories.  I picked them from the perspective of a health care consumer trying to find more information.  I would appreciate indications of which categories you would have used in any reviews that you send.  Book and video reviews on any of these books and recommendations for other books and videos you found especially helpful will be posted in the reviews section.  Send to me at 530Rose@msn.com
