Many different classes are available to help expectant parents prepare for the birth of their child. The availability of these classes varies in this area.
Each local hospital offers classes that provide you with a great deal of information about the hospital labor and birth routine and possible - but usually rare - complications, as well as some basic techniques for minimizing interventions. They focus on hospital birth. Teachers must be approved by the hospital and must follow a strict curriculum not always open to out of hospital alternatives or natural childbirth techniques. Hospital based classes are not really appropriate for women wanting a non-interventive birth. If you are serious about having an unmedicated childbirth with minimal interventions, spending the money for independent classes is well worth the cost.
After seeing Hypnobirthing clients manage their labor, I can wholeheartedly recommend Hypnobirthing classes!

Erin Schmidt is a "Hypnobirthing" www.hypnobirthing.com instructor and doula. She can be contacted at erin.schmidt@gmail.com or via her website www.daintydoula.com.
Other options are listed below, but I am not sure if anyone is certified (or interested) in teaching in this area. I would be happy to list other classes if you are aware of any that focus on unmedicated, non-interventive techniques.
